Naomi Shimada started modelling after being discovered when she was just 13, but instead of feeling gorgeous (because she is!) she spent many of her teen modelling years worrying about her weight and size.

Now, almost ten years on she has emerged as a successful plus-size model who quite literally has her cake and eats it. Here, Naomi shares her tips on looking and feeling gorgeous no matter what your shape, size or colour.

1: Don't wear too much make-up...
"Don't wear too much make up, especially if you wear it just for the boys. Boys don't even like a lot of make up! For me, if I do my lips, I don't do my eyes. My make-up kit is pretty basic: cheek tint (which I use on my lips), eyeliner, mascara, a little bit of lipstick and some concealer. I don't wear eyeshadow as I find it hard to put on and then it won't stay on!"

2: ...and make sure you take it off!
"I always take my make up off – it's part of my skin care regime. No matter how tired I am I always take it off. I try not to use face wipes all the time, but I do make sure I always have some by my bed in case I need to crash out."

3: Embrace the fresh face
"For young skin, use a tinted moisturiser – don't wear foundation until you need to! Make sure you choose the right colours to match your skin tone. Always use SPF based make-up to help protect your skin. Embrace the fresh face!"

4: As for exercise...
"Find something you like to do. Exercise doesn't have to be a chore. My thing is I love dancing and there are a million different types of dance. I'm lucky enough to live in London where there is any form of dance I could ever dream of so if I get bored of one I just try another one. Whether you like team sports or yoga - just try something new. Exercise doesn't have to mean running on a treadmill. In fact, that's my idea of hell!"

5: Get measured
"All good outfits start with good foundation wear, so get your underwear fitted! So many people wear the wrong bra size. You can't look good on the outside if you're wearing the wrong stuff on the inside. There is also amazing support underwear too – there is so much out there now that you can find anything you need to help you feel comfortable and to look your best."

6: Understand your shape
"Figure out what your best assets are and work them! For me, I know I can't wear low slung trousers because they just don't suit me. So I wear high-waisted ones to accentuate my curves and then mix them with crop tops. They hug my shape and support it."

7: Don't just follow trends
"I've never followed the trends that you see in every magazine – why would you want to look like everyone else? Look through old movies, old pictures, find things that inspire you like music, art, films – wear what you like. Clothes are an amazing thing – I'm not obsessed with high brands, I just wear what I like and that makes me feel like me."

8: Practice taking photos
"Practice in the mirror, find angles that work for you. It sounds silly, but sit up straight. All good pictures come from good posture! Also, think of something that makes you happy and that will project in the photograph."

9: Eat your fruit and veg
"Nobody looks good if they don't eat vegetables or fruit. Don't make eating them a chore, make it fun! Slice apples and keep them in your bag for if you're peckish or want a snack. See what is colourful when you go to the supermarket and make something pretty!

10: Be confident
"You can't project confidence and look your best unless you're really feeling it.
Only you can make yourself feel good. No matter what expensive clothes you have or hairdresser you go to, only you can pull yourself up and get yourself feeling good."

Friday 15th April was the day of my second and i-Lipo treatment and I decided to team the treatment up with a cellulite reduction session too (Ultra). I’m going to fill you in on a few bits i forgot to tell you about after my last session too.

So i am getting fitter with all the absolute fitness boot camp sessions and personal training sessions – however there are always stubborn areas which just won’t seem to go and I feel that if I exercised and dieted to the degree where they did go – there would be none of me left and I would be on a silly small amount of calories. This is something i-Lipo is great for. It can be used to help reduce the fat in targeted areas such as tummy, saddlebags, underneath of arms, under chin, hips and so on and I knew I wanted to see if I could reduce the excess weight that just won’t shift from my stomach.

I arrived for my ‘Lunch Time’ i-Lipo and firstly I was weighed and measured at 3 points on my stomach (as this was the area I was treating) after stripping to my knickers but leaving my top on. She covered my tattoos with plasters so the laser didn’t directly touch tattooed skin as for some people lasers easily remove some of the tattoo ink otherwise. I was told it was unlikely but better safe than sorry, She then placed the pads and carried out the 20 minute treatment.

After she had taken the pads off she then measured me again at the same 3 points. She has marked them with pen so I knew it was the same points. It was then worked out how many cm I had lost. Anyway… so I did loose 3.5 cm and 4.5 cm on my last treatment so im extremely happy –Still got another 6 sessions to go and today is the day of my next session.

After the i-Lipo treatment Jenna started on the Ultra cellulite reduction, I don’t really have any cellulite but wanted to work on the same area (my stomach) for Maximum results. So what exactly is the Ultra?

In a nutshell the Ultra incorporates vacuum massage and infra red skin tightening to target more stubborn fatty deposits, enhance lymphatic drainage and promote skin renewal. The vacuum massage action of the Ultra enhances the removal of released fat cell contents and by its suction action optimizes absorption of infra red laser in the dermis to promote collagen growth and enhance blood circulation in the area. The result is a slimmer, tighter and smoother looking skin.
Vacuum massage can also be used with i-Lipo laser treatment to help stimulate the lymphatic system and break down stubborn fat. Once i-Lipo has released the fat cell contents the post treatment Ultra can assist in removing released fat and promoting skin cell renewal and blood circulation for a healthier firmer skin and improving the appearance of cellulite.

I could see a difference after the first session my skin is saggy through loosing weight and it was amazing watching the skin be sucked up to the laser and my skin becoming tight. It’s great to see a treatment that actually works, I am really happy with my results. I’m still not brave enough to put my pictures on so i will do a before and after my 8 sessions.

My i Lipo experience at Love Hair Love Beauty

I thought I'd drop a note to let anyone who may be interested know my own experience of i-Lipo. So here goes the long post......

Firstly I am 25 and a size 10/12. I have always had a problem with my stomach and would rarely wear anything tight as I was too paranoid about my bulge. No amount of time at the gym or time spent dieting would help it.
I had my consultation with Sammy one of our therapist she is patient and informative. She answered all my questions, showed me previous pictures of patients and in general made me feel very comfortable with the whole thing. I went ahead with my first treatment on Friday 9th April 2011. I had the pads place on my stomach as this is my problem area. For me this was lucnchtime lipo as the treatment only takes 20 minutes perfect!

Sammy measured me up before my treatment on the narrowist part of my stomach belly button and hips.The treatment was completlty pain free and i didn't feel a thing.
Sammy was fantastic throughout and constantly reassured more. After the treatment had been carried out Sammy then re-took my measurements... In only 20 minutes i'd lost 4.5 cm how AMAZING is that in 20 minutes literally laying on a bed doing nothing! :)

After my treatment i was advised to do 45 minutes excercise to get my heart rate pumping to burn off the fats and sugars that my fat cells had released. So off to the gym i went for a personal training session, you dont have to do the gym simply an exercise that gets your heart pumping is fine. If you do want a personal trainer i can recommend very good one!

I can clearly see results already and think once ive done the 8 recommended sessions I will be extremely happy with the results.

I will post my before and after pictures and maybe some videos at the end of my 8 sessions i have my next treatment on Friday 16th April so will let you know how that goes!
